Vantic for Rust Console Edition

How to Switch Rust Console Bots Without Losing Player Data

Moving your community to a new Rust Console bot usually means players lose the currency and progress they earned, which is the main reason owners hesitate. Vantic removes that risk: it carries both your in-game economy and your whole shop over from the old bot, with a plan for the players it could not read and the ones who have not linked yet. You set an exchange rate so an old economy of a different size lands sensibly, and you can preview the entire move before committing a penny. This guide covers the two ways to read old balances, what to do when the old bot is already gone, what genuinely cannot be carried across, and the best moment in your wipe cycle to make the change.

Your shop and your players' balances both come across. Each player runs your old bot's balance command once and Vantic credits them what it says they had.

The short answer

Nothing on console can read another bot's database, so a transfer works from what that bot prints into Discord. The thorough way is to let the players do it: you open a window in one channel, each player runs the old bot's balance command there, and Vantic reads their figure out of the reply and credits it. You set the conversion rate first, and it applies to everybody.

That matters more for balances than for the shop. A shop you can rebuild in an evening. A regular sitting on forty thousand coins earned over three wipes cannot rebuild that, and telling them to start from zero is how an owner's switch turns into a player exodus.

Two ways to read the old balances

The one that reaches everybody: open a window with /import balances and choose players. Each player runs your old bot's balance command in that channel, Vantic reads the figure out of the reply and adds it to their wallet on the spot. It works for your whole server rather than the top of a list, the number comes from the old bot rather than from anybody's memory, and three hundred players get through it in an afternoon without you typing anything.

The fast one: choose leaderboard and walk the old bot's richest-players list yourself, clicking through the pages while Vantic reads them, including the pages that replace the message in place rather than posting a new one. It takes two minutes and gets as deep as that bot will page, which is often a top ten. Most owners run this first for the big holders, then leave a players window open for everybody else.

Either way, the first bot that answers in that channel becomes the only one trusted for it. That is deliberate: money is being credited from what a bot says, and anybody can invite a bot to a Discord.

Knowing who was missed, rather than hoping

Vantic already knows who plays on your server, because every join is read from the console feed. So it does not have to take the old bot's word for who exists: it lists the gamertags that have played in the last ninety days and had nothing carried across, by name.

That turns the dangerous part of a migration into a number you can act on. The players a top-ten leaderboard missed are the ones who log in, find zero, and quietly stop playing without ever saying why. Seeing the list means you can read more pages, ask those players to run the command, or give everybody who was missed a floor so nobody arrives at nothing.

It also reads what the old bot says about itself. If its footer says page four of nine, or that it holds 143 players when 70 were read, that is on screen before you apply anything, along with any gap in the ranks that means a page was skipped.

If the old bot is already gone

This happens constantly: the bot gets removed first and the move happens after, so there is nothing left to read. Players can then run /oldbalance to say what they had, which queues a number for you rather than crediting anything. You approve it, change it, or refuse it, and a player who has already been carried across cannot claim again.

It is the weakest source in the system and it is built to be treated that way, because the alternative is a player whose month of earnings is gone and no way at all to put it right.

Why there is an exchange rate at all

Two servers rarely pay the same. If your old bot paid a thousand a kill and yours pays fifty, importing at one-to-one hands your economy an inflation you did not choose, and the shop prices you set carefully stop meaning anything by the weekend.

So the rate is yours to pick, with the arithmetic shown rather than described. Most owners either keep it at one-to-one because the two economies are close, or scale down so the relative standings survive while the absolute numbers fit the new prices. What players care about is that the person who was richest is still richest, and that nobody lost a month.

Your shop comes across the same way

Same walk, different command: you open each category of your old shop in a watched channel and Vantic reads the products, prices and kit names out of what it renders. The review screen shows every row it read, including the ones it could not resolve to a real item, and you correct those before anything is created.

It only ever creates. A product you have already built with the same name is left alone, because an import that quietly rewrites a shop you spent a weekend on is worse than no import. From there a Rust Console shop bot and the real-money Rust Console server store run on the same catalogue.

What cannot be moved, honestly

Anything the old bot never prints in Discord cannot be read, and that is a real limit rather than a temporary one. Positions, base data, its internal event history and any ranking it keeps private stay where they are. A balance leaderboard that only shows a top ten is a top ten: the players below it need pasting in or crediting by hand.

Player progress that Vantic tracks itself starts fresh, because it is measured from your server's own console feed rather than imported: kills, deaths and streaks on the Rust Console leaderboards begin the day you connect. Money and shop products are the two things worth carrying, and they are the two things that can be.

When to switch

Wipe day, and not the day before. A wipe is the one moment your players expect things to reset anyway, so a new bot arriving with their balances intact reads as an upgrade rather than a disruption. Switching mid-cycle is possible and works the same way; it just spends goodwill you do not need to spend.

Whichever day you pick, do the transfer before you announce it. Then the announcement is a promise you have already kept: the shop is there, the money is there, and the Rust Console economy bot running it is one your players can see the state of.

Try it before you pay for it

Both transfers are free to run and free to look at. You can read your old shop and your old balance leaderboard, see every row Vantic worked out, and decide from the review screen whether this is a platform you want, before any money changes hands in either direction. A free Rust Console Discord bot tier means the evaluation is the product, not a demo of it.

Frequently asked questions

Will my players lose their balances if I change bots?

Not if the old bot can print them. Vantic reads its balance leaderboard page by page out of Discord, shows you every player and every number, and credits them once you approve it. Players who have not linked their gamertag yet get theirs automatically the moment they link.

How do you get balances out of my old bot?

From what it prints into Discord, because no bot on console can reach another's database. The thorough way is to let each player run the old bot's own balance command in a channel Vantic is watching, so their figure comes straight from the old bot and every player is covered, not just the top of a leaderboard. You can also walk the leaderboard yourself, or paste a list of names and amounts.

What if my old economy was much bigger than my new one?

Set an exchange rate. Every player's line recalculates as you change it, so you can scale a thousand-a-kill economy down to fit your prices while keeping the standings intact. There is also a per-player ceiling, which is the guard against one misread line.

What happens if the import reads something wrong?

A line it cannot read confidently is reported as unreadable rather than guessed at, because a guess is somebody's money. Anything that did get credited can be undone in one click, which takes back what it gave as far as each wallet still holds it and tells you what had already been spent.

Can I run the transfer twice by accident?

No. Each player is recorded when they are credited, so a second run credits nobody twice and says how many were already carried across. That is deliberate: the failure that leaves a player short is fixable, and the one that invents money is not.

Does my shop come across as well?

Yes, the same way: you open each category of the old shop in a watched channel and review every product, price and kit name before anything is created. It only creates, so a product you have already built yourself is never overwritten.

How do I know every player was included?

Vantic lists the ones who were not. It knows who plays on your server from the console feed rather than from the old bot, so it can name the gamertags that played recently and had nothing carried across. You can then ask them to run the balance command, or give everybody who was missed a floor so nobody arrives at zero.

What if some players only see one total and others have a wallet and a bank?

Both are handled. A wallet and a bank printed separately are added together, and if the old bot also prints a total, the total is used instead of the two halves so nobody is paid twice. Numbers that are plainly not money, like a rank or a kill count on the same card, are ignored rather than guessed at.

Can a player fake their balance?

No. Only a bot's own message is read, never a person's, and the first bot that answers in the channel becomes the only one trusted for that window, so nobody can invite their own bot to print a number. A player can say what they had with /oldbalance, but that credits nothing until an admin approves it.

What cannot be transferred?

Anything the old bot keeps to itself. Positions, base data, its private event history and any leaderboard it never prints. Kill and death statistics also start fresh because Vantic measures them from your server's own console feed rather than importing them.
