Vantic for Rust Console Edition

Can You Have PvP and Offline Raid Protection Together?

Can you have PvP and offline raid protection together? Yes, and on Rust Console it is the setup that keeps a server populated. Offline raid protection seals a base only when every member of the team is offline, after a grace period the owner sets, and opens the moment any of them logs back in. While anyone is on, the base is raidable exactly as it always was; online raids, counter-raids and door camping are untouched. What changes is the 3am offline, the one that makes a player with a job and kids quit after one wipe. A sealed base takes no building damage and its cupboard cannot be accessed, radiation deters campers, and a zone that is never visited again expires on its own. It is not PvE, it is PvP with the overnight exception.

Yes. The base is raidable whenever anyone on the team is online, and sealed only while they all sleep. PvP stays PvP; the player with a job stays on your server.

The problem it solves is population, not fairness

Every console owner has watched the same player leave. They played every evening for a week, got offlined at four in the morning, logged in to a hole in the wall and an empty cupboard, and never came back. That is not a hardcore player being soft; it is a person with a job doing the maths on their time. Full PvE fixes it by removing the game. Offline raid protection fixes it by removing only the one thing that costs you players, the raid nobody could have defended.

The owners asking for this are not asking for invulnerability. Recent threads say it plainly: they want PvP and online raiding, and they want to be safe while they work or sleep. Those are not in conflict once the rule is tied to who is online rather than to a timer or a flag.

How the rule works, step by step

A player arms their base in game with a quick-chat emote and confirms; no Discord, no coordinates. From then on the bot watches the team's presence from the server's own player list. While anyone on the team is online, nothing happens and the base is a normal base. When the last member logs off, a grace period starts, ten minutes by default, so a crash or a quick relog does not seal anything. If nobody returns, the zone seals: building damage off, cupboard locked, radiation inside the zone so a camper cannot wait at the door. The instant a team member logs in, it opens again. The full setup and settings are on Rust Console offline raid protection.

What stays PvP, in plain terms

Online raids: unchanged. Counter-raids while the team is on: unchanged. Roaming, monuments, door camping, roof camping while anyone is home: unchanged. Raiding a team that logged off two minutes ago: possible until the grace period ends, which is deliberate, so that logging off cannot be used as an escape mid-raid. The only thing the server loses is the raid that happens to a sleeping team, and that raid was never a fight in the first place.

Settings that keep it honest

Three numbers decide whether protection feels fair. The grace period: too short and a disconnect seals a base mid-fight, too long and a team can log off to dodge a raid; ten to fifteen minutes is the range most servers settle on. The expiry: a zone whose team never returns is removed after a set number of hours, so abandoned bases do not sit sealed all wipe; 48 hours is the default. And the zone size, large enough to cover the base and its externals, small enough that it cannot wrap a whole compound of other people's bases. Vantic also requires a team by default, so one player cannot arm protection for a base they do not live in, and the owner can restrict who may arm a zone at all.

Keeping an offline-protection server populated

The second half of the question is the one that matters: a protected server nobody plays on protects nothing. Protection helps population in one specific way, it stops the quitting, so it pairs with the things that bring people in. List the server with the feature visible, because players are searching for exactly this; what Rust Console servers have offline raid protection is a live list of Vantic servers with it on. Say it in the server name and the Discord. Then give the players who stayed a reason to stay longer: keeping players active throughout wipe covers the rest.

Frequently asked questions

How do I stop players getting offlined while they're at work?

Turn on offline raid protection and let players arm their base in game with the quick-chat emote. Their base seals only when the whole team is offline, after the grace period you set, and opens the moment anyone logs in. They can be raided whenever they are home; they cannot be offlined at work.

Does offline raid protection turn my server into PvE?

No. Online raiding, counter-raids, roaming and camping are unchanged while anyone on the team is online. The only raid it prevents is the one against a team that is entirely offline, which was never a fight.

Can a team log off to escape a raid?

Not instantly. Sealing starts a grace period after the last member logs off, ten minutes by default, so logging off mid-raid does not protect the base. Owners set the grace period to suit their server.

How do I keep an ORP Rust Console server populated?

Make the feature visible: in the server name, in your Discord, and on the live list of servers with offline protection, because players are searching for it. Then keep the people it saves with a battle pass, daily rewards, weekly events and leaderboards; the Grow plan on the Vantic dashboard tracks each of those.
